What is that shiny raised printing called and can you do it?
This is called thermography and is a premium process only applicable on certain types of jobs (e.g. a single colour invitation using a similar weight of type throughout). We can certainly do this at Fulprint, so do ask us whether it is practical for your job. Briefly, it is a process whereby a granulated powder is dusted onto a print job and sticks to the wet ink. The powder is then melted under moving heat to provide a clear glaze over the inked areas, which hardens. Don’t consider this for your letterheads if you will subsequently feed those letterheads into another heat-based device such as a photocopier, as it will melt the glaze and damage your machine! Do consider it for adding a touch of class to invitations, business cards and correspondence cards.
